Down to Earth Construction Services has an appointment today in Wayland MA today to add risers to a client’s septic tank in addition to a septic system effluent filter. Basic septic system upgrades can simplify maintenance, improve system function, and protect your drainfield for long-term savings. Access risers and effluent filters are two low-cost septic system upgrades for existing or new tanks that we can provide. The riser will help the owner and inspectors easily locate the tank, and they provide access for maintenance and repair. They also avoid the need to repeatedly dig up the lawn for routine inspections or pumping. The effluent filter is an inexpensive plastic filtering device that fits into the outlet end of the septic tank. The screen helps prevent solids from leaving the tank and clogging the drainfield, one of the most common causes of septic system failure. We have provided other septic tank upgrades for customers in Fall River, Rochester and Acushnet MA. If you would be interested in septic system upgrades or if you have any questions about our septic services or septic systems please do contact our Norton office on 508-622-5759 or visit Down to Earth Construction Services
Down to Earth Construction Services know more than anyone would ever usually wish to know about septic systems and the waste that goes into them. Today we are at a customer location in Norton MA providing a septic repair because the waste that they have introduced to their septic system has actually harmed it. Most people would not know that a septic system is more than just a tank for waste. They are a balanced system that uses bacteria to reduce sludge and sulfite buildup. Our client had been using a strong household cleaners that has upset this balance and lead to septic drain field problems. It is always a good idea to make sure that if you wish to use strong cleaners that they are labeled ‘septic safe’. There are are also homemade cleaners that can be very effective and not damage your septic system. Baking soda mixed with other all natural ingredients can be used as an environmentally safe and natural cleaner for your toilet, sinks, tub, and drains. Using baking soda instead of harsh chemical cleaners such as bleach will keep all that important bacteria from being killed off. The good bacteria in your septic system is necessary because it breaks down all the waste that comes through the pipes. Without the good bacteria you will end up with clogs, back-ups and odors that wear away at your septic tank and eventually cause a septic system emergency.
Using baking soda is very easy. You can mix about a 1/4 cup of baking soda with 1/2 cup of vinegar and 2 tablespoons lemon to make your own natural cleaning agent. The baking soda will fizz up to help get the dirt and grime in your tub and drains.

Very green or lush grass a vegetation on your leach field or near your septic tank.
Sewage smells around your system or inside your house.
Backups when you do laundry, take showers, or flush the toilet.
If you see these signs it is never a good idea to wait to have them looked at. A small septic concern with an easy and inexpensive repair can become a much larger, more expensive and more disruptive problem if left unaddressed. We have extensive experience locating and repairing septic problems. We have septic repairs scheduled today in Acushnet, Freetown, Lakeville, Norton and Rochester MA. Down to Earth Construction Services have a septic repair appointment today in Acushnet MA. Unfortunately when the property owner noticed a wet patch in their yard they added more soil to the patch in the hope that this would fix the problem. This fix only temporarily covered up their septic problem and the wet patch returned and they contacted us when they also noticed a pronounced sewage odor in the area. We were able to determine that a new gutter in addition to a newly paved driveway was resulting in additional water being diverted to the soil absorption field area which put an extra load on the system. When their soil was saturated with clean water, even seasonally, it could not accept any more wastewater. The untreated wastewater was therefore rising to the surface. We were able to improve surface and subsurface drainage by diverting all surface and groundwater away from the soil absorption field. The soil could absorb all the wastewater from the property. We have other septic repair appointments today in Rochester, Freetown, Taunton, Norton, Dighton and Lakeville MA. If you suspect you require a septic repair or if you have any questions about your septic system please do contact our Norton office on 508-622-5759 or visit http://downtoearthconst.com/septic-services/

Down to Earth Construction Services know that many people who own a vehicle will schedule a service for their car when the service indicators come on or carry out their car maintenance themselves. As car owners we accept that maintaining our car is going to cost money but we use our vehicles daily so they need to be well maintained. The same is true for your septic system. There aren’t many properties that do not see their septic systems used daily. However a septic system is not the same as your car and many property owners turn to professionals, like Down to Earth Construction Services, to take care of their septic services. We have commercial and residential customers who rely upon us to take care of their septic systems so they do not need to worry about them. This is especially true for commercial customers who lose revenue when their septic system is not working. We will schedule septic services for our customers on a quarterly, biannual or annual basis depending on their septic system and the usage it gets. For example a busy restaurant that is open year round will need a service more frequently than a cafe that is only open in the summer ‘season’.
