Down to Earth Construction Services know that a property does not need to be way out in the county side to need to have a septic system. Before I moved into a home with a septic system I had certainly always just assumed that if a property was in a town or city it would be on town sewer. However I lived in two homes in the city of Attleboro MA both of which were certainly not in the countryside and both of which had septic systems because they were not on town sewer. I discovered that this was not unusual and certainly not the daunting prospect it first seemed when my realtor mentioned it. Increasingly as more and more property is built in New England the number that do not have access to town sewer is rising. Therefore the number of septic installations for new properties is also increasing. Down to Earth Construction Services certainly carry out many septic system installations in the region each year and the number is steadily growing. We also provide the septic engineering which is required before an installation can take place including septic design, soil testing and perc tests. An essential part of a septic system is the leach field and the soil in the leach area needs to be sufficiently permeable so that it can readily absorb the liquid effluent flowing into it. A site must also not have soil that is too permeable, allowing the effluent to reach the groundwater before it is fully treated. Very steep slopes are also unsuitable for a conventional leach field. Also, there must be at least a few feet of good soil from the bottom of the leach pipes to the rock or impervious hardpan below, or to the water table. The perc test provides the data to determine the suitability of a site for a septic system. In general, soils with high sand and gravel content drain the best and soils with a high clay content or solid rock are the worst. Most soils fall somewhere in the middle with a mix of course sand and gravel particles, small silt particles and tiny clay particles. Today we are conducting a perc test for a customer in Attleboro MA who is considering a building plot and needs to know its suitability for a septic system before proceeding. Even if a conventional septic system is not possible, depending on the perc test results, at Down to Earth Construction Services we have experience with alternative septic systems when it seems that a conventional system may not work. We are also providing septic engineering services to customers today in Norton, Seekonk, Rehoboth and Freetown MA. If you require septic engineering or have any questions about septic systems please do contact us at our Norton office on 508-622-5759 or visit www.downtoearthconst.com
Down to Earth Construction Services has a septic system installation starting today in Attleboro MA. We were contacted by a property owner who had recently inherited an older property with a failing cesspool which was processing the home’s wastewater. To enable them to easily and quickly sell the property for a good price they decided that it would be advantageous to replace the cesspool for a new, efficient septic system. A cesspool is a pit which acts as both a settling chamber for solids and a leaching system for liquids. A conventional septic system has a tank where solids can settle and begin to degrade, a distribution box, and a soil absorption system (SAS) that further treats the effluent by removing some of the bacteria, viruses, phosphorus, and nitrogen. We have the equipment and expertise to replace a cesspool with a septic system without having to rely upon subcontractors for equipment or operators. We can therefore ensure that all of the work is done to our own high standards. If you require a septic system installation, need to replace a cesspool or if you have any questions about septic systems or cesspools please do contact our Norton Office on 508-622-5759 or visit http://www.downtoearthconst.com where we would be happy to help you.
Down to Earth Construction Services had its monthly safety meeting today. The safety of our employees and customers is of the utmost importance to us so we ensure that we stay ahead of safety training, safety procedures and that our equipment is safe and our employees know how to use it correctly. Even though it is raining today part of our safety commitment is ensuring that our staff are safe whatever the weather so today our meeting covered heat stress and sun exposure training to ensure that our staff know how to work safely when the sun does show itself. We also focused on trailer safety for open, closed and equipment trailers including correct loading, tie down and visual inspections. This is very important because especially when we are doing excavation with large equipment or a septic installation with the necessary machines and equipment we need to be certain that it is moved safety to the site and also used correctly and safely. We have recently completed septic system installations in Bridgewater, Wayland, Clinton and Southborough. If you need septic services or have any questions about septic systems or the services we provide please do contact our Norton Office on 508-622-5759 or visit http://www.downtoearthconst.com

Down to Earth Construction Services are assisting a customer in Acushnet MA today with septic system improvements. We are installing a riser to their septic system. When your septic system is more accessible, it is also much safer and more attractive. Once installed our strong, durable risers and system covers provide property owners with easy access to their septic system for future repairs, upgrades or cleaning services, eliminating the need to dig and excavate the system each time it needs to be pumped. Another septic improvement that we can provide to our customers is to install an effluent filter in the outlet tee of their septic tank which will extend the life of their system. Due to the high cost associated with replacing a septic system seemingly small upgrades to your system can be financially beneficial. We also have septic repairs for customers today in Fall River, Fairhaven and Mattapoisett MA. Keeping up with your septic system maintenance and repairs is always a good idea because if you neglect your septic system a small problem can quickly become a much larger and more expensive problem to fix so it is never a good idea to procrastinate.
