Commercial Septic System Design For A Seekonk Property

Down to Earth Construction Services have experienced engineers who can provide you with a septic system design for your commercial or residential property. While all systems are individually designed for each site, most systems are based on the same principles. A conventional septic system consists of a septic tank, a distribution box and a drainfield, all connected by pipes, called conveyance lines. Your septic system treats your household or business wastewater by temporarily holding it in the septic tank where heavy solids and lighter scum are allowed to separate from the wastewater. This separation process is known as primary treatment. The solids stored in the tank are decomposed by bacteria and later removed, along with the lighter scum, by a professional septic tank pumper. After partially treated wastewater leaves the tank, it flows into a distribution box, which separates this flow evenly into a network of drainfield trenches. Drainage holes at the bottom of each line allow the wastewater to drain into gravel trenches for temporary storage. This effluent then slowly seeps into the subsurface soil where it is further treated and purified (secondary treatment). A properly functioning septic system does not pollute the groundwater. Details of the septic system will vary depending on many factors including the size of the lot, the topography, the soil type, proximity to environments such as wetlands or the ocean. We will design you a septic system that works for your property while also being cost effective, efficient and environmentally conscious. We have a septic system design meeting today at our Norton office for a commercial customer located in Seekonk MA. We have recently provided other septic system designs to residential and commercial customers in Clinton, Rochester and Attleboro MA. If you require a septic system design or if you have any questions about the septic services we provide or septic systems please do contact us at our Norton office on 508-622-5759 or visit http://downtoearthconst.com/septic-services/

The perc test is extremely important because it measures the level of liquid absorption of the soil where the proposed septic tank will be located. It determines how quickly the material from the septic system will be absorbed into the soil. We also have a septic system flow test scheduled in Fall River MA. We have recently also provided septic engineering services to other clients in Bolton, Fairhaven and Rehoboth MA. If you would be interested in these services or if you have any questions please do contact our Norton office on 508-622-5759 or visit Down to Earth Construction Services

A Title 5 Septic Inspection Determines A System’s Current Condition

Down to Earth Construction Services have Title 5 Septic Inspection appointments scheduled today for customers in Plainville, North Attleboro, Wrentham, Bellingham and Blackstone MA. The majority of these are inspections that are being done because the property owner is selling their property and it is required that a Title 5 Septic Inspection has been done on the system within 2 years of title transfer taking place. This usually means that an inspection has to be carried out because it has been more than 2 years since one was last performed. It is important to note however that the septic inspection just determines the system’s current status. As further detailed on the Mass Gov Website:

“The purpose of the inspection is to determine if the system in its current condition can protect public health and the environment. The inspection does not guarantee that the system will continue to function adequately, or that the system will not fail at a later date. This is particularly important if you plan to increase the flow to the system.” For more infomation see the Mass Gov Website.

Therefore if you are buying a property with a septic system that has passed its Title 5 you need to be aware that you will need to continue to maintain your septic and there is no guarantee offered by a septic inspection that the system will continue to function correctly, especially if you have a larger family moving in or larger appliances because this will all result in an increase to the flow to the system. If you are concerned about your on going septic system maintenance you may want to consider our septic service plan. Property owners who are on our Preventative Maintenance Program can let us look after monitor and maintain their septic system so the uncertainty is taken away. If you need to schedule a Title 5 Septic Inspection or if you have questions about septic services please do contact our Norton office on 508-622-5759 or visit Down to Earth Construction Services

Septic System Upgrades For Customer in Wayland MA

Down to Earth Construction Services has an appointment today in Wayland MA today to add risers to a client’s septic tank in addition to a septic system effluent filter. Basic septic system upgrades can simplify maintenance, improve system function, and protect your drainfield for long-term savings. Access risers and effluent filters are two low-cost septic system upgrades for existing or new tanks that we can provide. The riser will help the owner and inspectors easily locate the tank, and they provide access for maintenance and repair. They also avoid the need to repeatedly dig up the lawn for routine inspections or pumping. The effluent filter is an inexpensive plastic filtering device that fits into the outlet end of the septic tank. The screen helps prevent solids from leaving the tank and clogging the drainfield, one of the most common causes of septic system failure. We have provided other septic tank upgrades for customers in Fall River, Rochester and Acushnet MA. If you would be interested in septic system upgrades or if you have any questions about our septic services or septic systems please do contact our Norton office on 508-622-5759 or visit Down to Earth Construction Services

Septic Repairs Including a Sewage Grinder Pump Repair

Down to Earth Construction Services have septic repairs including a sewage grinder pump repair today in East Bridgewater, Taunton, Middleboro, Lakeville, Carver and Norton MA. As with all parts of your septic system your sewage grinder pump is an essential part of your septic system. Waste from water-using household appliances (toilets, bathtubs, washing machines, etc.) flows through your home’s pipes into the grinder pump’s holding tank. Once the wastewater inside the tank reaches a specific level, the pump will turn on, grind the waste into a fine slurry and pump it to the central sewer system or septic tank. A sewage grinder pump does what the name suggests and is not something that you want to leave inoperative because more serious breakdowns and larger repairs may then be necessary. If you require a septic repair for any part of your septic system including the septic tank, leach field or drain field, distribution box or septic pump or if you have concerns about your septic system please do contact our Norton office on 508-622-5759 or visit http://downtoearthconst.com/septic-services/ where we will be happy to answer any questions you have and book an appointment if necessary.

Cesspool Replacement to North Attleboro

Down to Earth Construction Services are doing a cesspool replacement for a customer in North Attleboro, MA today. A cesspool is a pit which acts as both a settling chamber for solids and a leaching system for liquids. The use of cesspools may overload the capacity of the soil to remove bacteria, viruses, and phosphorus, and to nitrify ammonia and organic nitrogen compounds. Over time, when the drainage area around the leaching pool becomes saturated, additional pools may have to be dug to handle the volume. Cesspools must be treated to avoid harmful chemicals from forming and also to empty the pool which needs to be done regularly. This makes cesspools have high maintenance costs.

In Massachusetts Title 5 does not require Cesspools to be replaced:

“only those cesspools that exhibit signs of hydraulic failure, are located extremely close to private or public water supplies, or otherwise fail to protect or pose a threat to public health, safety or the environment will need to be upgraded (310 CMR 15.303). Also, cesspools must be upgraded prior to an increase in design flow (e.g., the addition of a bedroom to a home or seats to a restaurant).” The Official Website of the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs

We provide cesspool services, pump out services and cesspool replacement if requested. We have worked with customers in Attleboro, Bridgewater, Raynham, Franklin, Marion and Westport MA recently to either replace cesspools which was required because of Title 5 or requested for financial or environmental reasons by the property owner. We have also conducted cesspool services and pumping. If you need a cesspool service or pump out, cesspool replacement or if you have questions about our services please do contact our Norton office on 508-622-5759 or visit Down to Earth Construction Services
