Septic Engineering Services Provided In Addition To Septic Installation For Many New Build Properties

Down to Earth Construction Services know that a property does not need to be way out in the county side to need to have a septic system. Before I moved into a home with a septic system I had certainly always just assumed that if a property was in a town or city it would be on town sewer. However I lived in two homes in the city of Attleboro MA both of which were certainly not in the countryside and both of which had septic systems because they were not on town sewer. I discovered that this was not unusual and certainly not the daunting prospect it first seemed when my realtor mentioned it. Increasingly as more and more property is built in New England the number that do not have access to town sewer is rising. Therefore the number of septic installations for new properties is also increasing. Down to Earth Construction Services certainly carry out many septic system installations in the region each year and the number is steadily growing. We also provide the septic engineering which is required before an installation can take place including septic design, soil testing and perc tests. An essential part of a septic system is the leach field and the soil in the leach area needs to be sufficiently permeable so that it can readily absorb the liquid effluent flowing into it. A site must also not have soil that is too permeable, allowing the effluent to reach the groundwater before it is fully treated. Very steep slopes are also unsuitable for a conventional leach field. Also, there must be at least a few feet of good soil from the bottom of the leach pipes to the rock or impervious hardpan below, or to the water table. The perc test provides the data to determine the suitability of a site for a septic system. In general, soils with high sand and gravel content drain the best and soils with a high clay content or solid rock are the worst. Most soils fall somewhere in the middle with a mix of course sand and gravel particles, small silt particles and tiny clay particles. Today we are conducting a perc test for a customer in Attleboro MA who is considering a building plot and needs to know its suitability for a septic system before proceeding. Even if a conventional septic system is not possible, depending on the perc test results, at Down to Earth Construction Services we have experience with alternative septic systems when it seems that a conventional system may not work. We are also providing septic engineering services to customers today in Norton, Seekonk, Rehoboth and Freetown MA. If you require septic engineering or have any questions about septic systems please do contact us at our Norton office on 508-622-5759 or visit www.downtoearthconst.com

Perc Test Provided to A Customer in Norton To Evaluate The Rate At Which Water Drains Through Their Soil

Down to Earth Construction Services offer so much more than septic ‘construction’. While we certainly use our experience in this area to provide excavation, septic installation and extensive repairs to septic systems we also have the skills and knowledge for septic engineering tasks such as providing septic designs, soil evaluations, construction layouts and perc tests. Today we have a perc test, or percolation test, for a customer in Norton MA. A perc test evaluates the rate at which water drains through soil. This is extremely important to know before you install a septic system because you need to know the level of liquid absorption into the soil in order to design the system which includes the leach field or drain field, where wastewater percolates back into the soil after the solids have settled into the septic tank. The typical size of a drain field is determined by the expected volume of wastewater to be discharged from the septic system (which is usually estimated based on the size of the proposed building) and of course the speed at which the liquid can drain which is determined by the perc test is essential information. The perc test is conducted by drilling or digging a hole in the ground, pouring water into the hole and then observing the rate at which the water is absorbed into the soil. We have provided other septic engineering services to customers throughout the region including recently in Swansea, Southborough and Bolton MA. If you require septic engineering services or if you have any questions regarding your septic system please do contact our Norton Office on 508-622-5759 or visit www.downtoearthconst.com
