Title 5 Septic Inspections Carried Out With Care and Consideration For Your Property

Down to Earth Construction Services regularly carryout Title 5 Septic Inspections for property owners who are selling their property and need to have a Title 5 Septic Inspection to be carried out before Title transfer can take place. Customers are often concerned about the amount of disruption that a septic inspection will cause because if you are selling a property you understandably don’t want a large unsightly mess to be created. However as stated on Mass Gov::

“The inspection includes determining the location and condition of cesspools, septic tanks and distribution boxes. Often, this will not require extensive excavation. .”

Our inspectors take care to cause as little disruption as possible, for example we will carefully remove turf and place it on a ground sheet along with any soil that is removed when inspecting your septic system. We can therefore replace the soil and turf with as little evidence of the inspection as possible left behind. We understand that although we carry out hundreds of TItle 5 Septic Inspections for customers that each one needs to have the same thoroughness, care and professionalism and that is why we have such an excellent reputation in the region. Today we have Title 5 Septic Inspections in Norton, Dighton, Berkley, Raynham and Rehoboth MA. If you require a Title 5 Inspection or if you have any questions about these inspections please do contact our Norton Office on 508-622-5759 or visit www.downtoearthconst.com

Cesspool Services and Cesspool Replacement In Massachusetts

Down to Earth Construction Services know that the word ‘cesspool’ does not conjure up pleasing images and if you are considering buying a property that word can certainly put a damper on enthusiasm you might have for it. However with the proper maintenance a cesspool is not the problem that you may fear. A cesspool is a pit which acts as both a settling chamber for solids and a leaching system for liquids. In Massachusetts a cesspool is not always required to be replaced. Infact as stated on the Mas Gov website:

‘Only those cesspools that exhibit signs of hydraulic failure, are located extremely close to private or public water supplies, or otherwise fail to protect or pose a threat to public health, safety or the environment will need to be upgraded” For more information see: https://www.mass.gov/service-details/title-5-faq

However a cesspool does generally require more ongoing maintenance than a conventional septic system and the use of cesspools may overload the capacity of the soil to remove bacteria, viruses, and phosphorus, and to nitrify ammonia and organic nitrogen compounds. Down to Earth Construction Services do provide property owners with cesspool services to ensure that they continue to operate correctly and efficiently. However if you decide to have your cesspool replaced we also have extensive experience with cesspool replacement. Today we have cesspool services and are starting a cesspool replacement in Berkley, Norton, Taunton, Dighton and Attleboro MA. If you have a cesspool and have questions or if you need a cesspool service or replacement please do contact our Norton Office on 508-622-5759 or visit www.downtoearthconst.com

Septic Design for a Sharon Client

Down to Earth Construction Services have a septic design meeting today at their Norton Office with a client who needs a design for their renovation property in Sharon MA. Our client is extending the original home significantly adding on bedrooms and living space. The existing septic system is not efficient and will not support the increased demand that a larger home, with additional people inside of it, will produce. All wastewater, not just that waste from your toilet, gets processed via your septic system so more people having showers, using the washing machine, dishwasher etc will mean more work for your septic system so you need to ensure that it will support the demand. We have extensive experience designing septic systems for customers, both residential and commercial septic systems so can design one that is appropriate to individuals customer’s requirements. We have recently provided septic designs to customers in Berkley, Wrentham and West Bridgewater. If you require a septic design or if you have any questions about septic designs or septic systems please do contact our Norton office on 508-622-5759 or visit http://www.downtoearthconst.com

Septic Repair For a Home In Norton MA

Down to Earth Construction Services know that it is sometimes hard to know what you can and can’t do when you own a property which is serviced by its own septic system. We are called out to many septic repairs that result from the property owner inadvertently doing something that has caused a problem. For example today one of our septic repairs at a home in Norton MA resulted from a homeowner not realizing that drain openers can cause significant problems with your septic system if they are used in excess. Don’t use harsh chemical drain openers if you experience a clogged drain. Septic system owners should use an alternative solution of a 1:1:1 ratio of salt, baking soda and vinegar. Follow this solution with boiling water or use a drain snake to clear out the clogs. The chemicals that are used in store-bought drain cleaners can cause serious problems within your septic system. We have other septic repair appointments in Berkley, Dighton, Taunton, Freetown and Middleboro MA. If you require a septic repair or if you have any questions about septic systems please do contact our Norton office on 508-622-5759 or visit www.downtoearthconst.com

Look After Your Septic System Bacteria Or You May Require A Septic Repair

Down to Earth Construction Services have found that many property owners, even those with septic systems, are not aware that for your septic system to work properly there needs to be a balance of bacteria which help breakdown waste so it can be processed. It is important to not disrupt this balance because then your septic system will not operate correctly. Important things to remember are:

Drain Openers – DO NOT use harsh chemical drain openers if you experience a clogged drain. Septic system owners should use an alternative solution: a 1:1:1 ratio of salt, baking soda and vinegar. Follow this solution with boiling water or use a drain snake to clear out the clogs. The chemicals that are used in today’s store-bought drain cleaners can cause serious problems within your septic system.

Cleaning Supplies – Chemicals can be damaging to your system as well. Instead of harsh cleansers, choose mild or natural cleaning supplies for your kitchen and bathrooms. Look for supplies that are “septic-safe” or that are marketed as being bio-degradable. These products will be approved for use in septic systems.

Antibacterial soaps and bleach – These can actually inhibit the enzymatic action that is required for the bacterial breakdown of solids within your septic tank. Add a laundry filter to your washing machine and use natural cleaning supplies whenever possible. If you have a water softener installed in your home, make sure that the salt recharge solution is redirected out of the septic tank.

We regularly attend septic repairs for customers who could have avoided a septic breakdown by following the above advice. Today we have septic repair appointments in Dighton, Berkley, East Bridgewater, Middleboro, Norton and Attleboro MA. If you require a septic repair or if you have any questions about septic systems please do contact our Norton Office on 508-622-5759 or visit http://www.downtoearthconst.com

To Avoid A Septic Problem Be Aware Of What Should Not Be Flushed

Down to Earth Construction Services provide advice to their customers to ensure that they use their septic systems correctly and are therefore less likely to have a septic system problem. It is important to take good care of your septic system so you should know which items should never be flushed down the drain or toilet. This is because these things can overtax or destroy the biological digestion taking place within the system or clog pumps and pipes which will result in a septic problem.

Take care not to flush the following:

  • hair combings, dental floss, gauze bandages or disposable diapers
  • sanitary napkins, tampons, cigarette butts, or condoms
  • fat, grease or oil, coffee grounds, paper towels or cat litter
  • chemicals that could contaminate surface and groundwater, such as paints, varnishes thinners, waste oils, photographic solutions, or pesticides

Unfortunately we have attended many septic repairs that could have been avoided if this advice had been followed. Today we have septic repair appointments in Dighton, Rochester, Rehoboth, Berkley, Lakeville and Middleboro MA. If you require a septic repair, think you may have a septic problem or if you have any questions please do contact our Norton office on 508-622-5759 or visit http://www.downtoearthconst.com
