We Are Happy To Answer Questions and Discuss Septic Concerns

Down to Earth Construction Services knows that septic systems are a complete mystery to many of us and, to be honest, that really is not a problem most of the time. Even if you have a septic system as long as you are maintaining it and know how to ‘use’ it you really don’t need to know the specifics. However it is always advisable to stay observant and aware and if you are unsure if you have a problem or have a septic concern run it past a septic professional. At Down to Earth Construction Services we are always happy to answer any questions that you may have and discuss your septic concerns and make suggestions. If it becomes apparent that you need a septic repair we can schedule an appointment. Once we have assessed the condition of your septic system, we will present you with a range of options designed to correct any identified issues. These may include one or more of the following:

  • Replacement of damaged or missing baffle

  • Installation of effluent filter and service riser

  • Installation of pumping access riser and cover

The Smell Of Sewage Could Indicate You Have A Septic Problem

Down to Earth Construction Services know that septic systems always need to be maintained and occasionally you may also have a septic problem come up that needs to be addressed. Ignoring a septic concern until you have the time or money to deal with it will often mean that it could become a bigger septic problem which is never a good thing. A small concern of septic sewage smells coming from your plumbing if addressed quickly can sometimes be easily, quickly and inexpensively fixed. However if you ignore signs of a septic problem your small issue could become a large septic failure which could be an expensive and disruptive repair. Today we are at a customer site in Bridgewater MA providing a simple repair that could have been a much bigger and more expensive septic problem to fix if the home owners had ignored the sewage smells coming from their system much longer.  We also have septic repairs scheduled for other customers in Mansfield, Taunton, Norton, Sharon and Canton MA. If you have questions about your septic system or need to schedule a septic repair please do contact our Norton office on 508-622-5759 or visit www.downtoearthconst.com

Most of the inspections that we carry out for property owners are for people who are selling their property and need their septic to be inspected before Title transfer can take place. However what some people do not realize is that we also carry out voluntary septic assessments. Property owners can hire a licensed inspector to perform Confidential Voluntary Septic Assessments of their septic systems. These inspections are completed just as they would be according to the Title 5 Inspections required by the State of Massachusetts, but the findings are NOT reported to any other person, municipality or office outside of the homeowner. Once the inspection is complete, the homeowner will receive a thorough report along with an assessment of the findings and some recommendations on how to properly maintain or repair their septic system. The recommendations provided by Down to Earth Construction Services are designed to increase longevity and prevent future issues, such as property damage, high cost repairs or system replacement.

In addition to the above inspections we also have a voluntary septic assessment scheduled for a customer today in Norton MA.

If you require a septic inspection or voluntary septic assessment please do contact our Norton office on 508-622-5759 or visit www.downtoearthconst.com where we will be happy to help you.

Cesspool replacement In Acushnet, MA

Down To Earth Construction Services are doing a cesspool replacement for a customer in Acushnet, MA today. A cesspool is a pit which acts as both a settling chamber for solids and a leaching system for liquids. The use of cesspools may overload the capacity of the soil to remove bacteria, viruses, and phosphorus, and to nitrify ammonia and organic nitrogen compounds.  Over time, when the drainage area around the leaching pool becomes saturated, additional pools may have to be dug to handle the volume. Cesspools must be treated to avoid harmful chemicals from forming and also to empty the pool which needs to be done regularly. This makes cesspools have high maintenance costs.

In Massachusetts Title 5 does not require Cesspools to be replaced:

“only those cesspools that exhibit signs of hydraulic failure, are located extremely close to private or public water supplies, or otherwise fail to protect or pose a threat to public health, safety or the environment will need to be upgraded (310 CMR 15.303). Also, cesspools must be upgraded prior to an increase in design flow (e.g., the addition of a bedroom to a home or seats to a restaurant).” The Official Website of the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs

We provide cesspool services, pump out services and cesspool replacement if requested. We have worked with customers in Attleboro, Bridgewater, Raynham, Franklin and Marion MA recently to either replace cesspools which was required because of Title 5 or requested for financial or environmental reasons by the property owner. We have also conducted cesspool services and pumping.

If your property has a cesspool make sure that you work with a company that has extensive experience working with cesspools in Massachusetts. If you have any questions or need to arrange an appointment please do contact our Norton office on 508-622-5759 or visit www.downtoearthconst.com

Down to Earth Construction Services Wishes Everyone A Happy Thanksgiving

Down to Earth Construction Services wishes everyone a Happy Thanksgiving for tomorrow. We know our customers are also looking forward to Thanksgiving and food preparation is well underway for Thanksgiving Meals. We would like to remind our customers that it is not a good idea to put any type of cooking oil, fat or grease down the sink where it can enter your septic system. Whilst a well maintained septic system can cope with small amounts of fat, oil and grease, such as natural body oils that go into your septic system when you shower, if you regularly introduce cooking fats, oils and grease into your septic system it could result in a septic system failure if left . Just remember when you are making your beautifully juicy turkey dinner do not pour the fat, oil or grease down your sink. We have been conducting Septic Repairs in Stoughton, Bridgewater, Middleboro, Carver, Taunton and Norton MA that could have been easily avoided with a little knowledge and preventative measures. If you have a question about your septic system or you need to schedule a septic repair please contact us on 508-622-5759 or visit www.downtoearthconst.com
