Sewage Grinder Pump Repair in Attleboro MA

Down to Earth Construction Services have been called to a customer’s property in Attleboro MA to repair their sewage grinder pump. This doesn’t sound especially appealing but has an important role in their septic system so needs to be operating correctly. A sewage grinder pump is a wastewater conveyance device. Waste from water using household appliances (toilets, bathtubs, washing machines etc) flows through the home’s pipes into the grinder pump’s holding tank. Once the wastewater inside the tank reaches a specific level, the pump will turn on, grind the waste into a fine slurry, and pump it to the septic tank. We have extensive experience with septic systems and repairing different elements of them including d-boxes, septic pumps and drain fields/ leachfields. We also provide septic upgrades and improvements such as the addition of risers, covers and effluent filters. The addition of an effluent filter in the outlet tee of your septic tank can extend the life of your septic system. Once installed risers and system covers enable homeowners to provide easy access to the system for future repairs, upgrades or cleaning services, eliminating the need to dig and excavate the system each time it needs to be pumped. We are also at a customer property in Norton MA installing a septic system cover today in addition to providing septic repairs in Rochester and Lakeville MA. If you require a septic system repair or if you are interested in septic improvements please do contact our Norton office on 508-622-5759 or visit http://www.downtoearthconst.com

Monthly Safety Meeting at Our Norton Office

Down to Earth Construction Services had its monthly safety meeting today at its Norton Office with all our technicians attending. The safety of our staff and customers is of utmost importance and we make sure that we stay ahead of safety training and developments in the industry. For example the meeting covered the Norton Facility Safety Inspection that was carried out last month and established that all Fire Extinguishers were serviced including truck units. We have 4 technicians attending an Excavation Safety Session next month and, like every month, there was a safety topic addressed in the meeting which this month was Ladder Safety. This included the selection, Inspection and safe use of ladders. There was also training on Trailer Safety which included securing Loads and Visual Inspection. Our aim at Down to Earth Construction Services is to ensure that all of our technicians, office staff and customers are safe and that we have the knowledge and equipment to ensure it. Working with septic systems is a specialized task and we would never recommend that anyone without the proper training should try to fix, pump, install or inspect their septic system. If you have questions about your septic system or if you need to schedule an appointment please do contact our Norton office on 508-622-5759 or visit www.downtoearthconst.com

Keep Track Of Your Water Usage To Help Prevent Septic Problems

Down to Earth Construction Services has many years of experience working in the septic industry in this region. This means that we can use our accumulated knowledge and the skills that we have developed to repair septic problems that our customers have. What is sometimes even more important is that we can locate the cause of the septic problem and this sometimes means that we have to educate septic system owners in the best way to use their system to prevent problems happening in the future. For example today we have been to a customer property in Acushnet MA and the mistake that they were making is that they were putting too much water into their system. The decomposition process can become strained if there is too much excess water in the system, resulting in a variety of problems. Ideally, septic owners should only be using a maximum of 50 gallons of water per day, per person. The following averages for common household activities can help you keep track:

Dishwasher Cycle – 7 gallons
Washing Machine – 40 gallons per load (less with front-loader machines)
Toilet – 2 gallons per flush, 1.6 gallons for newer standard toilets
Shower – 2.5 gallons per minute (a 10 minute shower = 25 gallons)

It can be difficult to stay on top of usage, particularly for large families, but laying down some basic guidelines can help everyone to work together. New environmentally-friendly appliances, toilets and shower heads can help reduce usage without a lot of extra effort. Trying to spread laundry loads out over a week rather than doing it all on one day helps and not running many water using appliances all at once. A water meter can be helpful for households that feed off of a well. The government website http://www.energystar.gov also has a lot of helpful ideas and tips for reducing water usage. It is always a good idea to remember that a septic system is installed based upon the number of people that are anticipated to be using it. If your base number increases, you might need to upgrade to a larger system. We have other septic repairs scheduled today in Marion, Mattapoisett, Fall River and Fairhaven MA. If you have questions about your septic system or if you need to schedule a septic repair please do contact our Norton Office on 508-622-5759 or visit http://www.downtoearthconst.com

Perc Test Provided to A Customer in Norton To Evaluate The Rate At Which Water Drains Through Their Soil

Down to Earth Construction Services offer so much more than septic ‘construction’. While we certainly use our experience in this area to provide excavation, septic installation and extensive repairs to septic systems we also have the skills and knowledge for septic engineering tasks such as providing septic designs, soil evaluations, construction layouts and perc tests. Today we have a perc test, or percolation test, for a customer in Norton MA. A perc test evaluates the rate at which water drains through soil. This is extremely important to know before you install a septic system because you need to know the level of liquid absorption into the soil in order to design the system which includes the leach field or drain field, where wastewater percolates back into the soil after the solids have settled into the septic tank. The typical size of a drain field is determined by the expected volume of wastewater to be discharged from the septic system (which is usually estimated based on the size of the proposed building) and of course the speed at which the liquid can drain which is determined by the perc test is essential information. The perc test is conducted by drilling or digging a hole in the ground, pouring water into the hole and then observing the rate at which the water is absorbed into the soil. We have provided other septic engineering services to customers throughout the region including recently in Swansea, Southborough and Bolton MA. If you require septic engineering services or if you have any questions regarding your septic system please do contact our Norton Office on 508-622-5759 or visit www.downtoearthconst.com

If Your Property Is Not On Town Sewer A Septic Service Could Take Your Septic Maintenance Concerns Away

Down to Earth Construction Services know that many people when they hear the word ‘sewer’ either think of old, large, dank, dark and smelly sewer systems under some city in Europe or adolescent turtles with unlikely names fighting bad guys through the sewer tunnel system. Neither image is particularly accurate for sewer systems in Massachusetts which service many homes across the state. However homes and properties that are not on the town sewer system still need to process their wastewater and the solution is an individual septic system. If you buy a property with a septic system and have never had one before this can be a daunting prospect. However septic services provided by Down to Earth Construction Services are designed to give homeowners peace of mind because you then know that your system is being properly checked, maintained and monitored. This means that you do not have to worry about unexpected repairs or maintenance because we will take care of your septic system for you so repairs are much less likely to be necessary and problems will be located before they become a big concern. We schedule septic services for our customers on maintenance contracts on a quarterly, biannual or annual basis depending on their septic system and the use that it gets. Today we have septic service appointments in Dighton, Taunton, Berkley, Middleboro and Norton MA. If you would be interested in septic services or if you have questions please do contact our Norton office on 508-622-5759 or visit http://www.downtoearthconst.com

It Is Unwise To Ignore A Septic Problem And Hope It Will Go Away

Down to Earth Construction Service give you a pinch and a punch for the first of the month! The year is certainly marching along and we can’t quite believe that March is here already. Spring is on its way and property owners are starting to think about repairs and maintenance that have been put off over the winter. However if you have a concern about your septic system it is wise to have it addressed immediately and not leave it until your springtime maintenance. Indicators that you may have a septic problem include:

  • Pipe Gurgling Sounds

  • Toilet Flushing Issues

  • Slow Drains

  • Water Backup

  • Bad Odors

  • Greener Grass

  • Patches of Standing Water

If you have noticed one or more of these signs at your property please do consider calling to discuss your concerns with our experienced technicians. If a septic problem is ignored it is very unlikely to go away on its own and will quite possibly become a much larger and more expensive repair if left. Today we have septic repair appointments in Plainville, North Attleboro, Wrentham and Foxboro MA. If you wish to schedule a septic repair or if you have septic questions or concerns please do contact us at our Norton office on  508-622-5759 or visit www.downtoearthconst.com

Septic Services Including Septic Repairs And Septic Upgrades Year Round

Down to Earth Construction Services provide our septic services to our customers year round, even in the winter time! Today we have septic repairs and septic upgrades scheduled for customers in Bellingham, Blackstone, Upton and Franklin MA . We are adding a riser to the outlet of a septic tank for a customer in Oxford MA. Adding risers, covers and filters to your septic system will improve its effectiveness. When your septic system is more accessible, it is also much safer and more attractive. These goals can be achieved through the use of strong, durable risers and system covers. Once installed, homeowners are able to provide easy access to the system for future septic repairs, septic upgrades or cleaning services, eliminating the need to dig and excavate the system each time it needs to be pumped. Another septic upgrade we can provide to customers is the addition of a effluent filter. Engineers, scientists and educators in the septic industry suggest that property owners install an effluent filter in the outlet tee of their septic tank to extend the life of their system. Due to the high cost associated with replacing a septic system, these seemingly small upgrades to your system will pay off in a big way. If you would be interested in septic system upgrades or if you need a septic repair please do contact our Norton office on 508-622-5759 or visit http://www.downtoearthconst.com
