Septic Tank Installation in Rochester MA

Down to Earth Construction Services are always willing to provide information to property owners who have septic systems. One piece of advice is always to not build over your septic system because it can impair your system and can be an issue if you should ever have a septic problem. This is certainly true for our customer today who has a home in Rochester MA. We are having to move their deck to install a new septic tank for them. Unfortunately when they installed their back deck their contractor did not consider the septic tank underneath which has made a simple septic tank installation much more expensive and it will take longer because their deck needs to be removed to do the installation. Fortunately for our customer Down to Earth Construction Services have the tools and experience to do the removal, excavation and installation. We have recently installed other septic systems including new septic tanks for customers in Westport, Attleboro and Norton MA. If you require a new septic system, septic tank or any other septic work we are more than capable of assisting you and if you have any septic system questions or wish to schedule an appointment please do contact our Norton office on 508-622-5759 or visit http://www.downtoearthconst.com

Septic Repair For a Home In Norton MA

Down to Earth Construction Services know that it is sometimes hard to know what you can and can’t do when you own a property which is serviced by its own septic system. We are called out to many septic repairs that result from the property owner inadvertently doing something that has caused a problem. For example today one of our septic repairs at a home in Norton MA resulted from a homeowner not realizing that drain openers can cause significant problems with your septic system if they are used in excess. Don’t use harsh chemical drain openers if you experience a clogged drain. Septic system owners should use an alternative solution of a 1:1:1 ratio of salt, baking soda and vinegar. Follow this solution with boiling water or use a drain snake to clear out the clogs. The chemicals that are used in store-bought drain cleaners can cause serious problems within your septic system. We have other septic repair appointments in Berkley, Dighton, Taunton, Freetown and Middleboro MA. If you require a septic repair or if you have any questions about septic systems please do contact our Norton office on 508-622-5759 or visit www.downtoearthconst.com

The Smell Of Sewage Could Indicate You Have A Septic Problem

Down to Earth Construction Services know that septic systems always need to be maintained and occasionally you may also have a septic problem come up that needs to be addressed. Ignoring a septic concern until you have the time or money to deal with it will often mean that it could become a bigger septic problem which is never a good thing. A small concern of septic sewage smells coming from your plumbing if addressed quickly can sometimes be easily, quickly and inexpensively fixed. However if you ignore signs of a septic problem your small issue could become a large septic failure which could be an expensive and disruptive repair. Today we are at a customer site in Bridgewater MA providing a simple repair that could have been a much bigger and more expensive septic problem to fix if the home owners had ignored the sewage smells coming from their system much longer.  We also have septic repairs scheduled for other customers in Mansfield, Taunton, Norton, Sharon and Canton MA. To Avoid A Septic Problem Be Aware Of What Should Not Be Flushed

Down to Earth Construction Services provide advice to their customers to ensure that they use their septic systems correctly and are therefore less likely to have a septic system problem. It is important to take good care of your septic system so you should know which items should never be flushed down the drain or toilet. This is because these things can overtax or destroy the biological digestion taking place within the system or clog pumps and pipes which will result in a septic problem.

Take care not to flush the following:

  • hair combings, dental floss, gauze bandages or disposable diapers
  • sanitary napkins, tampons, cigarette butts, or condoms
  • fat, grease or oil, coffee grounds, paper towels or cat litter
  • chemicals that could contaminate surface and groundwater, such as paints, varnishes thinners, waste oils, photographic solutions, or pesticides

Unfortunately we have attended many septic repairs that could have been avoided if this advice had been followed. Today we have septic repair appointments in Dighton, Rochester, Rehoboth, Berkley, Lakeville and Middleboro MA. If you require a septic repair, think you may have a septic problem or if you have any questions please do contact our Norton office on 508-622-5759 or visit http://www.downtoearthconst.com

Primary Reasons For Leach Field Failure are Biological Clogging and Mechanical Failure

Down to Earth Construction Services have been contacted by a client in Berkley MA who suspects that they have a leach field problem. They have noticed a sewage smell in their yard around the leach field area and there is a consistent wet, sogginess on the field. Other signs that you may have a problem can include lush vegetation over the leach field, frequent pumping of the tank being required, and/or slow drains.

Leach fields fail for two primary reasons. The main reason is referred to as biological clogging. This is the development of a biomat beneath the leachfield that eventually prevents the liquid or effluent from entering the underlying soil. This biomat is a combination of fine organic solids that have been carried out of the septic tank and the remnants of anaerobic bacteria. These bacteria originate in the human intestinal tract and enter the septic system with the waste products. 95% of all leach field failures are biological. The second primary reason is referred to as a mechanical failure. This could be a structural collapse of the leach field piping or chambers, root intrusion, or fine non-organic materials that are washed down to the bottom of the leach field and seal the soil.

Down to Earth Construction Services have many years experience identifying and repairing leach field problems and will find locate and solve our client’s leach field problem.
