Septic Repair in Attleboro MA

Down to Earth Construction Services have a septic repair scheduled today for a customer in Attleboro MA. We are replacing their distribution Box (D-Box). A D-Box is exactly as it sounds it’s a box that moves, or distributes treated wastewater from your septic tank into your leach field or drain field. It must be level and installed correctly or your wastewater will not distribute evenly across your leach field and this can lead to over saturation and clogging which is not desirable. The d-box we are replacing was damaged when heavy equipment was mistakenly parked on top of it which broke and moved it. We have found that many property owners with septic systems while they know they have a septic tank sometimes forget that the leachfield and d-box are also essential parts of their septic system and must also be maintained. Here are a few simple tips to help you look after all parts of your septic system:

  • Minimize the use of the garbage disposal

  • Do not put grease down your drains

  • Spread loads of laundry out over time rather than doing multiple loads in a short period of time, and use liquid detergents rather than powdered detergents

  • Avoid excessively long showers

  • Avoid leaving tap water running when shaving, brushing teeth or doing other personal or household tasks

  • Do not flush medications, harmful chemicals, excessive amounts of bleach, harsh drain cleaners or degreasers

  • Have the septic tank pumped at least every three years

  • Do not add any septic systems cleaners, enzymes or additives

  • Remove water conditioning backwash discharges from the septic system

  • Do not plant trees and shrubs over leach fields

  • Do not flush personal products, paper towels, wipes or diapers

  • Do not clean or rinse paint brushes in the sinks

  • Equip all hot tubs, spas, whirlpool baths, etcetera with drain limiting valves that will only allow five gallons per minute to drain from fixture

  • Do not drive vehicles over leach fields

We also have septic repairs scheduled in Norton, Stoughton, Canton and Taunton MA and some of these repairs could have been avoided by following the above advice. If you have any questions about your septic system or if you need a septic repair please do contact our Norton office on 508-622-5759 or visit Down to Earth Construction Services

We Have Been Providing Septic Services In This Region For Over 30 Years

Down to Earth Construction Services has been working in this region on septic systems for over 30 years. During this time we have worked with many different types of septic system and therefore gained knowledge and experience working on systems such as Singulair, FAST, Sand Filter, Jet System, Fuji Clean and many others. We provide septic services including septic installation, septic design, septic repair, septic inspection and septic service and septic maintenance. All septic systems are designed specifically for their own site and have variances which make them unique but most systems are based on the same principles. A conventional septic system consists of a septic tank, a distribution box and a drainfield. Your septic system treats your household wastewater by temporarily holding it in the septic tank where heavy solids and lighter scum are allowed to separate from the wastewater. The solids stored in the tank are decomposed by bacteria and later pumped out. After partially treated wastewater leaves the tank, it flows into a distribution box, which separates this flow evenly into a network of drainfield trenches. Drainage holes at the bottom of each line allow the wastewater to drain into gravel trenches for temporary storage. This effluent then slowly seeps into the subsurface soil where it is further treated and purified. Like anything in your home your septic system must be maintained to ensure it keeps working correctly. If you do not want the worry of looking after your system or have a business and a septic failure would mean lost revenue it may be worth considering a septic service plan. We service many types of septic systems for our customers on quarterly, biannual or annual basis depending on their system and the amount of use it gets. Today we have septic services scheduled in Rehoboth, Norton, Rochester, Seekonk, Freetown and Swansea MA. If you would be interested in a septic service or you have questions about your septic system or septic services specifically please do contact our Norton office on 508-622-5759 or visit http://downtoearthconst.com/septic-services/

Septic Repair in Norton MA

All Clear SepticDown to Earth Construction Services know more than anyone would ever usually wish to know about septic systems and the waste that goes into them. Today we are at a customer location in Norton MA providing a septic repair because the waste that they have introduced to their septic system has actually harmed it. Most people would not know that a septic system is more than just a tank for waste. They are a balanced system that uses bacteria to reduce sludge and sulfite buildup. Our client had been using a strong household cleaners that has upset this balance and lead to septic drain field problems. It is always a good idea to make sure that if you wish to use strong cleaners that they are labeled ‘septic safe’. There are are also homemade cleaners that can be very effective and not damage your septic system. Baking soda mixed with other all natural ingredients can be used as an environmentally safe and natural cleaner for your toilet, sinks, tub, and drains. Using baking soda instead of harsh chemical cleaners such as bleach will keep all that important bacteria from being killed off. The good bacteria in your septic system is necessary because it breaks down all the waste that comes through the pipes. Without the good bacteria you will end up with clogs, back-ups and odors that wear away at your septic tank and eventually cause a septic system emergency.

Using baking soda is very easy. You can mix about a 1/4 cup of baking soda with 1/2 cup of vinegar and 2 tablespoons lemon to make your own natural cleaning agent. The baking soda will fizz up to help get the dirt and grime in your tub and drains.

Drain Field Septic Repair Necessary In Rochester Due To Roots

Down to Earth Construction Services have expertise in many areas so that we can bring our customers the best possible septic services. For example we need landscaping and plant knowledge because septic systems, very often, are located in a customers yard with the landscaping and planting one would expect. However it is this landscaping that can cause problems. For example trees often have root systems that go far beyond what a homeowner expected when they first planted a tree seedling. Roots can infiltrate a septic drain field and really cause a lot of trouble. Roots even tend to grow toward drain fields because it is their job to find water for the tree. Today we are providing a drain field septic repair for a customer in Rochester MA whose tree roots have caused damage to the piping that is necessary for their leach field to work correctly. It is really advisable to only have grass growing on your leach field and not plant large bushes or trees on it to prevent these sorts or septic repairs being necessary. We also have other septic repair appointments in Mattapoisett, Marion, Fairhaven and Lakeville MA. If you require a septic repair or if you have any questions about septic systems please do contact our Norton office on 508-622-5759 or visit Down to Earth Construction Services

Leach Field Repair in Norton MA

Down to Earth Construction Services is experienced diagnosing and repairing septic systems and leach fields/ drainfields. We have been called in for a leach field repair in Norton MA which has been caused by irregular pumping of the septic system. A septic tank should be pumped every 3 – 5 years depending on various factors including water usage and tank size. If the tank fills up with an excess of solids, the wastewater will not have enough time to settle in the tank. These excess solids will then pass on to the leach field, where they will clog the drain lines and soil. The property owner called us concerned because they had liquid puddling on their leach field and sewage smells coming from it. We were able to educate the customer to help ensure that their problem will not reoccur and begin their leach field repair. We also have other septic repairs scheduled today in Attleboro, Rehoboth, Swansea, Dighton and Raynham MA. If you are concerned that you many need a septic system repair, leach field or drainfield repair, septic pump repair or d-box repair please do contact our office to discuss your concerns and to make an appointment if necessary on 508-622-5759 or visit www.downtoearthconst.com

Septic Repair On A Leach Field In Acushnet MA

Down to Earth Construction Services have a septic repair appointment today in Acushnet MA. Unfortunately when the property owner noticed a wet patch in their yard they added more soil to the patch in the hope that this would fix the problem. This fix only temporarily covered up their septic problem and the wet patch returned and they contacted us when they also noticed a pronounced sewage odor in the area. We were able to determine that a new gutter in addition to a newly paved driveway was resulting in additional water being diverted to the soil absorption field area which put an extra load on the system. When their soil was saturated with clean water, even seasonally, it could not accept any more wastewater. The untreated wastewater was therefore rising to the surface. We were able to improve surface and subsurface drainage by diverting all surface and groundwater away from the soil absorption field. The soil could absorb all the wastewater from the property. We have other septic repair appointments today in Rochester, Freetown, Taunton, Norton, Dighton and Lakeville MA. If you suspect you require a septic repair or if you have any questions about your septic system please do contact our Norton office on 508-622-5759 or visit http://downtoearthconst.com/septic-services/
