Down to Earth Construction Services have septic repairs including a sewage grinder pump repair today in East Bridgewater, Taunton, Middleboro, Lakeville, Carver and Norton MA. As with all parts of your septic system your sewage grinder pump is an essential part of your septic system. Waste from water-using household appliances (toilets, bathtubs, washing machines, etc.) flows through your home’s pipes into the grinder pump’s holding tank. Once the wastewater inside the tank reaches a specific level, the pump will turn on, grind the waste into a fine slurry and pump it to the central sewer system or septic tank. A sewage grinder pump does what the name suggests and is not something that you want to leave inoperative because more serious breakdowns and larger repairs may then be necessary. If you require a septic repair for any part of your septic system including the septic tank, leach field or drain field, distribution box or septic pump or if you have concerns about your septic system please do contact our Norton office on 508-622-5759 or visit http://downtoearthconst.com/septic-services/ where we will be happy to answer any questions you have and book an appointment if necessary.
Down to Earth Construction Services has Title 5 Septic Inspection appointments scheduled today in Holliston, Canton, Sharon, Foxboro, and Stoughton MA. When you have a Title 5 septic inspection this is what is included:
General layout of the system components (location of the building sewer, septic tank or cesspool, distribution box and leaching field);
Type of use (e.g., house, school, retail space), Title 5 design flow, and whether the facility is presently occupied;
Analysis of the criteria specified in Title 5 that indicate system failure, and, for large systems, those which indicate threats to public health and the environment;
Water use records from the previous two years, if available;
A description of the septic tank, including its condition, approximate age, thickness of grease/scum layer, and other relevant information;
A characterization of the distribution box and dosing tanks with pumps, if any, such as condition and evidence of solids carryover or backup; and
The condition of the soil absorption system including, any signs of hydraulic failure.
We have found that many property owners who have scheduled an septic inspection do not know what it will entail because they have not needed to have one done before. Generally it is the seller of a property that is responsible to carrying out the septic inspection so unless you have previously owned and sold a property with a septic system you may not have previously needed to scheduled one. This is made clear on the Mass Gov Website:
“The property owner or operator is responsible for arranging the inspection. The buyer and seller may change the responsibility for arranging the inspection prior to title transfer, provided that this change is put in writing and that the inspection still occurs within the specified timeframes.”
If you require a Title 5 Septic inspection or if you have any questions about septic inspections or septic systems please do contact our Norton office on 508-622-5759 or visit http://downtoearthconst.com/septic-services/
Down to Earth Construction Services know more than anyone would ever usually wish to know about septic systems and the waste that goes into them. Today we are at a customer location in Norton MA providing a septic repair because the waste that they have introduced to their septic system has actually harmed it. Most people would not know that a septic system is more than just a tank for waste. They are a balanced system that uses bacteria to reduce sludge and sulfite buildup. Our client had been using a strong household cleaners that has upset this balance and lead to septic drain field problems. It is always a good idea to make sure that if you wish to use strong cleaners that they are labeled ‘septic safe’. There are are also homemade cleaners that can be very effective and not damage your septic system. Baking soda mixed with other all natural ingredients can be used as an environmentally safe and natural cleaner for your toilet, sinks, tub, and drains. Using baking soda instead of harsh chemical cleaners such as bleach will keep all that important bacteria from being killed off. The good bacteria in your septic system is necessary because it breaks down all the waste that comes through the pipes. Without the good bacteria you will end up with clogs, back-ups and odors that wear away at your septic tank and eventually cause a septic system emergency.
Using baking soda is very easy. You can mix about a 1/4 cup of baking soda with 1/2 cup of vinegar and 2 tablespoons lemon to make your own natural cleaning agent. The baking soda will fizz up to help get the dirt and grime in your tub and drains.

Down to Earth Construction Services regularly carryout Title 5 Septic Inspections for property owners who are selling their property and need to have a Title 5 Septic Inspection to be carried out before Title transfer can take place. Customers are often concerned about the amount of disruption that a septic inspection will cause because if you are selling a property you understandably don’t want a large unsightly mess to be created. However as stated on Mass Gov::
“The inspection includes determining the location and condition of cesspools, septic tanks and distribution boxes. Often, this will not require extensive excavation. .”
Our inspectors take care to cause as little disruption as possible, for example we will carefully remove turf and place it on a ground sheet along with any soil that is removed when inspecting your septic system. We can therefore replace the soil and turf with as little evidence of the inspection as possible left behind. We understand that although we carry out hundreds of TItle 5 Septic Inspections for customers that each one needs to have the same thoroughness, care and professionalism and that is why we have such an excellent reputation in the region. Today we have Title 5 Septic Inspections in Norton, Dighton, Berkley, Raynham and Rehoboth MA. If you require a Title 5 Inspection or if you have any questions about these inspections please do contact our Norton Office on 508-622-5759 or visit www.downtoearthconst.com
Down to Earth Construction Services have expertise in many areas so that we can bring our customers the best possible septic services. For example we need landscaping and plant knowledge because septic systems, very often, are located in a customers yard with the landscaping and planting one would expect. However it is this landscaping that can cause problems. For example trees often have root systems that go far beyond what a homeowner expected when they first planted a tree seedling. Roots can infiltrate a septic drain field and really cause a lot of trouble. Roots even tend to grow toward drain fields because it is their job to find water for the tree. Today we are providing a drain field septic repair for a customer in Rochester MA whose tree roots have caused damage to the piping that is necessary for their leach field to work correctly. It is really advisable to only have grass growing on your leach field and not plant large bushes or trees on it to prevent these sorts or septic repairs being necessary. We also have other septic repair appointments in Mattapoisett, Marion, Fairhaven and Lakeville MA. If you require a septic repair or if you have any questions about septic systems please do contact our Norton office on 508-622-5759 or visit Down to Earth Construction Services
Down to Earth Construction Services provide septic system installations for many property owners for a variety of reasons. Today we have a septic installation for a customer in Attleboro MA who needs a larger septic system because they are putting an addition, which includes 2 bedrooms, onto their home. Their older home has a septic system that was put in many years ago and was not designed to handle the volume of wastewater that maybe created with the addition of extra bedrooms. Of course it is not always the case that more bedrooms equates to more people using the system but that is the measure that is used to determine if a septic system should be upgraded or replaced. Your property must have a septic system that is equal to the number of bedrooms that you have to ensure that it can cope with the wastewater that will enter it. All wastewater is processed so that does not just include toilets but that also showers, baths, dishwashers and washing machines. Older septic systems are sometimes overwhelmed even when the number of bedrooms has not increased if more than the expected people are living or just visiting the home or larger appliances are bought and used at the same time or repeatedly used on the same day. It is always wise to be aware of the volume of wastewater that you are introducing to your septic system and if possible take measures such as taking shorter showers or doing your washing over an entire week rather than just on one day. However if you find that you are having septic issues that you can not solve with these solutions we are always happy to make suggestions or discuss a septic upgrade or replacement. We have recently installed new and upgraded septic systems for customers in Southborough, Marshfield and Norton MA. If you require a septic system upgrade or a septic installation or if you have any questions about your septic system please do contact our Norton office on 508-622-5759 or visit Down to Earth Construction Services
Down to Earth Construction Services is experienced diagnosing and repairing septic systems and leach fields/ drainfields. We have been called in for a leach field repair in Norton MA which has been caused by irregular pumping of the septic system. A septic tank should be pumped every 3 – 5 years depending on various factors including water usage and tank size. If the tank fills up with an excess of solids, the wastewater will not have enough time to settle in the tank. These excess solids will then pass on to the leach field, where they will clog the drain lines and soil. The property owner called us concerned because they had liquid puddling on their leach field and sewage smells coming from it. We were able to educate the customer to help ensure that their problem will not reoccur and begin their leach field repair. We also have other septic repairs scheduled today in Attleboro, Rehoboth, Swansea, Dighton and Raynham MA. If you are concerned that you many need a septic system repair, leach field or drainfield repair, septic pump repair or d-box repair please do contact our office to discuss your concerns and to make an appointment if necessary on 508-622-5759 or visit www.downtoearthconst.com
