A Failing Leach Field Can Be Restored By the White Knight™ Microbial Inoculator/Generator

Down to Earth Construction Services were approached by a property owner in Norton, MA who needed a solution for their failing leach field. We will restore the function of their leach field or drain field with the White Knight system.

In nature, oxygen-using (aerobic) bacteria in the soil consume non-living organic material. This is the process nature uses to “recycle” wastes. We install the White Knight™ Microbial Inoculator/Generator in the septic tank to create an oxygen rich environment and cultivate an extensive colony of these same soil bacteria.

The result is nearly complete consumption of the organic materials entering the septic tank. At the same time, the bacteria are carried into the leach field where they consume the organic material that has accumulated in the underlying soil. The leach field regains and/or maintains its capacity to deliver effluent to the soil for purification.

The White Knight™ advantage includes:

  • An installation costs thousands of dollars less than that of a replacement leach field
  • Minimal disruption to existing landscape
  • Protection of the environment
  • Significantly longer tank pumping interval
  • Conservation of natural resources
  • 100% component and limited lifetime performance warranty

We have successfully used this system throughout the region to restore leach fields from Wayland to Upton to Fairhaven and Marshfield MA.

The White Knight™ Microbial Inoculator/Generator can be used to:

  • Improve the function of a marginally operating drain field
  • Restore the function of a totally failing leach field
  • Improve the quality of effluent returning to the soil and ground water
  • Reduce the amount of nitrate moving into the environment
  • Reduce the size of a leach field required for new building construction
  • Expand the size of existing structures without expanding the leach field

If you want to have a White Knight Septic Installation or have questions please do contact our Norton, MA office on 508-622-5759 or visit Down to Earth Construction Services

Title 5 Inspections Can Be Delayed If Weather Prevents It Before A Sale

Down to Earth Construction Services are pleased that winter and its weather are just a distant memory and we can enjoy our New England summer. But we all know that just because it is summer that doesn’t mean that we can totally forget about what mother nature can bring and summer storms are always a possibility. However if you are planning to move house and have a septic inspection scheduled you do not need to worry if it seems that the weather will make it impossible for us to carry out your Title 5 Inspection. On the Mass Gov website it states that:

“If weather conditions prevent an inspection before a sale, Title 5 allows the inspection to be done up to 6 months afterwards, provided that the seller notifies the buyer in writing of the need to complete the inspection.” For more information see:https://www.mass.gov/guides/buying-or-selling-property-with-a-septic-system

We have Title 5 inspections scheduled today in Berlin, Bolton, Clinton, Marlborough, Oxford and Upton MA. If for any reason the inspection can not take place we will always endeavour to reschedule the inspection as quickly as possible at a time that is convenient. If you have any questions or wish to schedule a septic inspection please do contact our Norton Office on 508-622-5759 or visit http://www.downtoearthconst.com

There Are A Variety of Instances In Massachusetts When You Are Required To Have A Septic Inspection

Down to Earth Construction Services have septic inspections scheduled today in Mansfield, Holliston, Franklin, Bellingham, Upton, Uxbridge and Sharon MA. The reasons that people schedule inspections are not only because they are selling their home and require an inspection before they can sell. A septic inspection is required in Massachusetts:

  • Within 2 years before a sale. If weather conditions prevent inspection at the time of a sale, the inspection must take place within 6 months afterward.

  • When there is a proposed change to the facility which requires a building or occupancy permit.

  • Any change in the footprint of a building, to make sure that new building construction will not take place on top of any system components or on the system’s reserve area.

  • For large systems with a design flow of 10,000 to 15,000 gallons per day or more at full build-out, on the basin schedule shown in 310 CMR 15.301(6), and every five years thereafter.

  • Every 3 years for shared systems.

  • When the property is divided, or ownership of 2 or more properties is combined.

  • When MassDEP or the local Board of Health orders an inspection.

Septic Improvements Including Installation Of Risers, Effluent Filters and Covers

Down to Earth Construction Services are here to help property owners with septic improvements in addition to maintaining and repairing their septic systems. Today we are installing septic risers for a customer in Attleboro MA. Most tank lids were buried up until a few years ago. Unfortunately out of sight is often out of mind and regular maintenance can be neglected if septic system components are buried. Once the risers are installed the homeowner will be able to provide easy access to the system for future repairs, upgrades or cleaning services, eliminating the need to dig and excavate the system each time it needs to be pumped. Down to Earth Construction Services can  add an access riser to each tank opening with the lid installed flush with the ground surface. Other septic improvements we offer homeowners are to install an effluent filter in the outlet tee of their septic tank to extend the life of their system. Due to the high cost associated with replacing a septic system seemingly small upgrades to your system can pay off in a big way. We have recently provided septic system improvements and adjustments to other customers in Raynham, Upton and Holliston MA. If you are interested in septic improvements or have any questions about your septic system please do contact our Norton office on 508-622-5759 or visit www.downtoearthconst.com
