Septic Engineering Appointments Including A PERC Test in North Attleboro

Down to Earth Construction Services has qualified engineers working for us who can assist with your septic engineering needs. Today we have septic engineering appointments which include soil evaluations, septic designs, land use planning, and construction layouts for large commercial developments and private homes in North Attleboro, Wrentham, Plainville, Bellingham and Franklin MA. The soil evaluation or PERC test (percolation) that we have scheduled in North Attleboro is a soil test that is performed before installing a new septic system. The perc test is extremely important because it measures the level of liquid absorption of the soil where the proposed septic system will be located. This is necessary because after partially treated wastewater leaves the septic tank, it flows into a distribution box, which separates this flow evenly into a network of drainfield trenches. Drainage holes at the bottom of each line allow the wastewater to drain into gravel trenches for temporary storage. This effluent then slowly seeps into the subsurface soil where it is further treated and purified (secondary treatment). The PERC test provides the information to ensure that this process happens correctly for a newly installed septic system. Don’t Delay Septic Repairs Because A Small Problem Could Become a Much Larger Septic Issue

Down to Earth Construction Services know that spending money on your septic system, especially when Thanksgiving and Christmas are coming up quicker than you’d think does not always seem to be a priority. Home maintenance, like septic repairs, is not a fun way to spend our hard earned money especially when it is not seen or enjoyed. However if you have a concern about your septic system it is wise to have it addressed immediately and not leave it until the holidays have passed and you want to be ‘bothered’ by it. Indicators that you may have a septic problem include:

  • Pipe Gurgling Sounds

  • Toilet Flushing Issues

  • Slow Drains

  • Water Backup

  • Bad Odors

  • Greener Grass on your leach field

  • Patches of Standing Water

If you have noticed one or more of these signs at your property please do consider calling to discuss your concerns with our experienced technicians. If a septic problem is left it is very unlikely to ‘fix itself’ and could quite possibly become a much larger and more expensive issue to repair. Today we have septic repairs scheduled in North Attleboro, Foxboro, Plainville, Wrentham, Norton and Attleboro MA. If you wish to schedule a septic repair or if you have septic questions or concerns please do contact us at our office on 508-622-5759 or visit Down to Earth Construction Services

Title 5 Septic Inspections To Keep Everyone Safe

Down to Earth Construction Services carry out many Title 5 septic inspections for property owners in Massachusetts. Title 5 is the regulation of the Massachusetts State Environmental Code 310 CMR 15.000 which protects communities and environments from the potential hazards of on-site wastewater disposal systems (septic systems). Septic systems are to be properly located, built and maintained to effectively treat wastewater so as not to cause health risks to humans and animals or environmental problems which can result from the pathogenic elements as well as harsh pollutants present in wastewater.

The most common instance for a Title 5 Inspection to be requested from us is when a home or commercial property is being sold and it is required that a septic inspection be carried out. Today we have Title 5 Septic Inspections scheduled in Sharon, Mansfield, Foxboro, Norton, Wrentham and Plainville MA. The seller is typically responsible for arranging and completing the septic system inspection with a licensed Massachusetts Title 5 Inspector.

The times that Title 5 requires a septic inspection are as follows:

  • Within 2 years before a sale. If weather conditions prevent inspection at the time of a sale, the inspection must take place within 6 months afterward.

  •     When there is a proposed change to the facility which requires a building or occupancy permit.

  •     Any change in the footprint of a building, to make sure that new building construction will not take place on top of any system components or on the system’s reserve area.

  •     For large systems with a design flow of 10,000 to 15,000 gallons per day or more at full build-out, on the basin schedule shown in 310 CMR 15.301(6), and every five years thereafter.

  •     Every 3 years for shared systems.

  •     When the property is divided, or ownership of 2 or more properties is combined.

  •     When MassDEP or the local Board of Health orders an inspection.

Septic Repairs Including A Baffle Replacement in North Attleboro

Down to Earth Construction Services have the experience and knowledge to identify and repair septic problems when they arise for our customers. Today we are replacing an outlet baffle for a customer in North Attleboro, MA. The outlet baffle directs the flow of effluent from the tank to the drainfield or leach field; it prevents the scum layer from going straight into the outlet pipe and causing drainfield clogs and premature system failure. Our customer had noticed sewage smells coming from their septic system and chose to contact us to investigate the issue. We were able to determine that the cause was a defective outlet baffle and will be able to replace the baffle and therefore ensure that the smell will disappear but more importantly there won’t be any larger and more serious problems created by this issue. We also have septic repairs including a septic pump repair today in Wrentham, Plainville, Blackstone and Foxboro MA. If you are concerned that you require a septic repair or if you have any questions about your septic system please do contact our Norton Office on 508-622-5759 or visit www.downtoearthconst.com
